Those who can't...

Something I read today...

Now, no offense to any teachers out there, but you guys already get 65 days* holiday a year! What difference is one day really going to make? Also, it's a day at the end of a six-week long holiday...

And to strike!? Seems a little childish to me. Please have some sense, for the sake of the children...!

*I got this by doing 13 weeks multiplied by five days normally worked. Yes I know they have to prepare lesson plans/mark work etc, but not being at home makes it a lot more "flexible".

Also, my heart goes out to not only the girls killed in Pennsylvania yesterday, but their families, and also to the poor girls who had to witness the horrific deaths of their schoolmates, and friends. I truly am saddened.

Stay safe everyone.

To be fair, our annual pay is for 9 months spread over 12... so the holidays aren't truly paid and we can't choose when to take them...

Teaching is quite hard in fact.

Though the holidays are nice. I wouldn't dispute that!!!

One Google search told me £21,941 is an average pay for teachers in the UK. So 12/9 of this is about £29,250.

I'd take whatever holidays I was given for that pay...!

But yes, I can only imagine that teaching is pretty hard, and is much more than what the students "see".

And I still stand by the holidays being plenty!!
