I don't like...

... newspapers.

Why do they always see the need to report the news in such a biased and opinionated way?

Reading the Daily Mail (bad example, I know) the other day, the front page story was about the scandal over the navy ex-captives selling their stories, and seemed to only report the side of the story that says the sale was wrong.

Now, most people agree that it was wrong for them to sell their stories, but that fact should be reported. Most people agree that it was insensitive to those who have lost lives and loved ones in Iraq and Afghanistan, but that fact should be reported by the newspaper, and not splashed across the front page blatantly showing that they agree with it.

I have no quarrels with opinion, and many broadsheet papers which report the news pretty neutrally even have columnists who write about their opinions, but I think we should take in pure news in an unbiased way, and form our own opinions.

I know I could just choose not to read particular papers if I don't like the way they report the news, and believe me, I do choose not to read them! I just thought I'd take some time to explain that choice.

The BBC always seems like a good bet to me.

Catch up again soon...

PS. How nice is this sunshine!?
